# About

What The MCP Census is, how it works, and how to contact us.

## What this is
**The MCP Census** is a live product at [mcpcensus.com](https://mcpcensus.com): free lookup plus REST and MCP APIs that check servers in the Model Context Protocol ecosystem against public evidence (registry, GitHub, npm, PyPI, hosted endpoints, citations).

The registry tells you a server exists. The census tells you whether public evidence supports installing it, including honest “can’t verify yet.”

## How we work
The census runs continuously. Pipelines re-harvest the registry daily, re-check servers on a rolling cycle, probe live endpoints, and cross-reference adoption evidence on public sources.

Methodology is published. Numbers are public. Every trust factor links to evidence. Where something cannot be verified, we say so. Operating entity: [Terms](/terms).

- Not the official MCP registry

- Not a directory that ranks by stars alone
